Uday Singh

Uday Singh (1998) is a saxophonist from the San Francisco Bay Area in California. Uday completed his undergraduate degree at the Eastman School of Music. At Eastman he studied with Chien-Kwan Lin and performed regularly with the Eastman Wind Ensemble, the Eastman Jazz Lab Band, and the Eastman Saxophone Project. Uday has worked with many other renowned saxophonists, including Frederick L. Hemke, Vincent David, and Douglas O’Connor among others. Uday has been a prizewinner in a number of competitions, including 1st prize in the 2019 Empire State Solo Competition and 1st prize in the 2019 198th Army Band Solo Competition. Most recently Uday was a semifinalist in the 2020 North American Saxophone Alliance Solo Competition. Uday also plays soprano saxophone in the award winning Scio Quartet. With the quartet Uday has performed across the United States at a variety of venues, such as senior centers, libraries, schools, and hospitals. The Scio Quartet has also been awarded 1st prize in the 2017 198th Army Band Solo Competition and the 2019 Music Teachers National Association

Chamber Music Competition. Most recently the quartet was awarded the bronze medal in the 2020 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. Currently Uday is pursuing a Masters in Music Performance degree with Professor Lars Mlekusch at the Zurich University for the Arts as a 2020-2021 Fulbright Scholar. Derzeit macht Uday ein Master-Studium mit Professor Lars Mlekusch an der Zürcher Hochschule der Künste als 2020-2021 Fulbright-Stipendiat.
