Josep Mas Mestre

He began his studies in his hometown in Cerdanyola del Vallès and after a year studying in Terrassa Conservatory, he started his Bachelor in interpretation of Saxophone classical and contemporary in Conservatori del Liceu, in Barcelona. There, he studied with Albert Julià and Daniel Garcia and finished his bachelor with great qualifications.

Furthermore, he received a Scholarship of excellence by the Music Foundation Ferrer-Salat.

Josep is currently studying a Master in Music Performance in ZHdK (Zürich University of Arts) with professor Lars Mlekusch. He received lessons from Musicians such as Timothy McAllister, Daniel Gauthier and Arnau Tomàs (Casals Quartet) among others.

He has played as a soloist with the Symphonic band of Cerdanyola del Vallès and also the Youth Orchestra. He is a cofounder of Internum Quartet and member of the Limba ensemble, which received prizes in competitions and played around the Catalan and Spanish territory. He also works in the Barcelona Saxophone Project. He participated in the ‘Recontres Musicales Méditerranée’ in Corsica and de ‘Universitée Européenne du Saxophone’ in Gap. He also performed in the three editions of ‘Liceu Sax Festival’.

 Moreover, he has premiered works from some Composers and has some works dedicated to him. He performed in places such as Barcelona, Mallorca, Madrid in Spain and Gap, Bastia in France.

In the Education field, he worked during two years in the Motor Music School of Music and one year in the Barcelona School of Music and also the Casp School of Music. There he was Saxophone professor, Chamber Music professor and he also conducted the Symphonic Wind Band.
