Gemma Galeano Ballestar

Gemma Galeano Ballestar was born in Segorbe (Spain) in 1996.She finished her Saxophone Professional Degree at the Professional Conservatory “Alto Palancia” in Segorbe (Spain) in 2015. In 2019, she completed her Saxophone Bachelor at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Castilla y León in Salamanca (Spain) under the teaching of Ángel Soria. Gemma completed the last year of her Saxophone Bachelor at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste in the class of Prof. Lars Mlekusch, thanks to the Swiss Exchange Mobility Program.Since 2015 Gemma has been part of the Chemin d’èclat Saxophone Quartet and the 2.13 SAX Saxophone Ensemble performing in several cities throughout Spain and also at the 18th World Saxophone Congress in Zagreb (Croatia). In September 2019, Gemma has been part of the Saxophone Quartet that represents Zürich and its University of Arts in the Swiss Embassy in Seoul (South Korea).Since 2018 she is also part of the Zurich Saxophone Collective, conducted by Lars Mlekusch.She has received masterclasses from many renowned teachers such as Arno Bornkamp, Vincent David, Andrés Gomis, Mariano García, David Pons, Nacho Gascón, Christophe Grèzes, Pierre-Stéphane Meugé, Hans de Jong, Alberto Chaves and Antonio García.Gemma has worked as saxophone teacher at the Music School of the “Banda de Música de Zamora” (Spain) and at the Music School of Cabrerizos (Spain). In addition to many years working as a private teacher.Nowadays, she is pursuing her Master of Arts in Music Performance at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste in the class of Lars Mlekusch.
